Some 6 years ago, having ‘dabbled’ over a number of years, and after Mother stopped painting, he began to actively try to develop some painting techniques, and found himself ‘propelled’ into an Art Society in Coventry, where the learning process continues. He has served as Chairman, and is presently Honorary Secretary of the Coventry Triumph Society of Artists. Jim has exhibited at The Motor Museum, Coventry, Gainsborough Old Hall, Burton Dassett Church, Kineton Village Hall, The Showcase Building and the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry. Several exhibitions have been held at Wolvey Church Millennium Building (for which he was the Architect), and Kilsby and Stretton-on-Dunsmore Village Halls have also seen Jim’s work. His paintings are hung in Germany and France and calendars have been sent as far as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, France and Germany. Buildings, figure in much of his work, and their setting in the landscape and the countryside in general provides inspiration. A love of Steam Railways also is evidenced, and there are more ‘projects in the pipeline’, than there is time to tackle them…. More recently, he has become a Friend Member of the Guild of Railway Artists, and would like to progress further, in time. Being an Artist is an activity, which Jim plans to make a major, part of his working day! |
